What is the difference between a dentist and an endodontist?

Endodontists are specialist dentists with additional training, experience and formal qualifications in root canal treatment/therapy, apicetomies, microsurgery, dental emergency and trauma management.

In addition to a dental degree, Endodontists have an additional three years of postgraduate University training in the area of Endodontics. They are registered as a specialist with the Dental Board of Australia, they are not general dentists with an interest in root canal treatment.
